"Hello, World!"

"Hello, World!"

I've never had a personal blog. It wasn't for lack of things to say, observations to share, or opinions to float. It was primarily because setting up a personal blog was just too much of a hassle. It felt formal, it required yet another tool, yet another place to write, yet another platform to pay for just one feature. I had to pick a template, I had to think up a name, I had to make the relationship official. I didn't want any of that it's what put me off, I literally just wanted to write. It's amazing how complicated it remains on a lot of platforms — even in 2025 — just to get your simple thoughts down in text, on the web, at a permanent URL, for anyone in the world to see. Which is why X formally known as Twitter (do people even call it X?) has primarily been my publishing place of choice. Quick, short, easy. It's outstanding for that. Peerless. But it comes with increasingly undesirable downsides. Newton's Third Law of Motion states that for every action, there's an equal and opposite reaction. Twitter's/X's First Law of Tweeting/Posting states that for every tweet/post there's an unequal and opposite overreaction. Post something, and hear how you're wrong a dozen different ways. It's exhausting. I want to write, not fight I'm getting to old for that — approaching mid 30's. But beyond that, I simply want to share more considered, extended essays. Longer-form stuff as well as short stuff like even just a few paragraphs. Threaded posts are fine — and they have their place — but they're really a hack for a multi-paragraph, complete thought on a single page and Mastodon is good as it with 500 characters and I'm not paying Mr Elon for the ability to write more than 280 character posts — I already pay for verification for my podcast host, thes simply doesn't cut the mustard. So I was thinking. Where do I write longer-form, single page stuff most often? Who do I want my audience to be? Well everybody who has access to the internet so I looked around and I've entered this relationship with micro.blog and ghost. Micro blog not only allows me write in markdown format, to automatically cross-post to Mastodon, Threads, Bluesky, and other services with manual cross-posting to Twitter / X it means everything I've written in Obsidian where most of my written posts go I can just simply copy and paste those into the micro blog composer and Wollah! I now have blog posts/social media posts — for more than 300 characters this is where ghost comes in. With this blog I am just going to address my thoughts to the world direct to the web for anyone and everyone, rather than define the recipients across a single social media platform, I just write and let the recipients find me. Micro blog also allows for podcasting which I plan on doing on a personal level with the 'Justin Crozer Podcast' — a bit cliché I know — but hear me out. I'm not trying to be the next Joe Rogan — I don't want that fame — but I want to interview and chat to interesting people about things I enjoy tech, open source, sports, books etc.. even things which are on the controversial side conspiracy theories, mass surveillance etc.. but in an educated way not just ranting and making things up to get views and support a narrative.

That pretty much sums this up, you can follow me across social media or subscribe to this blog if you're interested.
